Funny girls

So, Jeanette & I decided to teach the girls a bit of cooperation one day. Actually, we just needed a giggle, but either way, it was fun!

Step 1: insert one girl into each leg hole.

Step 2: smile for the camera

step 3: fall down and wave to the camera

step : RUN!! (well, try to anyway!)

Sorry, you'll have to tilt your head..

Creativity

I am not artsy.
I am not musical.
I cannot sew, knit, or paint.
I can barely cut a straight line with scissors.
These are facts.
And no, it would not be any better if I tried harder.
I would not learn these things if I tried longer.
For 30 years, I have tried harder.
For 30 years, I have tried longer.
But, these are the facts about myself that I must face.
Once and for all.

however, time and time again.. I see something, and I think:
"I could do that."
Then I try. (I try really hard, sometimes too).
Wanna guess how it turns out??

Following are a few examples, of my "extra special" creativity in the photography department, as of late.

First, I saw this picture:
Pinned Image
Cute, eh?! Yeah.. so, I thought, "that doesn't look that hard.. I can do that!"
Sure..
Here's how MINE turned out!
Whoops! Don't Fall off!!

So.. then there was this one: (and I'm sorry, but whoever I pinned it from, didn't have it pinned from the right source - sorry)
Pinned Image
But SO cute! right?!

So.. I tried this one too...

I'm not sure which one is worse..

Anyway.. so, then I spotted these last 2:

And this one:
http://lindseyagoddardphotography.wordpress.com/

Both of which, I thought were gorgeous since they used the baby's daddy's pilot's hat.
Well.. can you guess how MINE turned out?
Firstly, I'm not sure how the first photographer got the baby INSIDE the hat.. there's no way, mine would do that!! So, after that.. I think they just go from bad to worse.. I even tried some with both the hat AND the tie.. Shockingly bad!!

So, there you have it. I am NOT a photographer. At least not of newborns in awesome poses. Strike off one more thing from the vast array of creative choices. Some day, I will be ok with having no creative talents. But until that day comes, I will continue to try my talents against professionals and I will continue to fall short and hard!

Hope you had a bit of a laugh at my expense.. :)

Getting Married

So.. Maybe i'm the only one but I have the funniest conversations with my kids around the dinner table. Honestly, I can't imagine how many conversations I would miss out on, if we didn't have dinner altogether.

So, here we sit tonight. Marco is at work (maybe we only have these conversations when he's gone.. ) and we're scoffing a feed of hamburger bun mini pizza's (2 minutes to make, 10 minutes to bake! Mmm, Yum!).
When Morgan pipes up, "Mom! I'm growing and soon I'll be married!!"
No idea why she's talking about getting married - don't think its been a point of conversation today, but whatever.. so, I ask, "Who are you going to marry?"
"Daddy", came the immediate reply.
Oddly perturbed that she's trying to steal my husband, I say, "You can't, he's already married to me. You  have to marry someone who's not already married."
This is a good lesson, by the way. Marry someone who's not already married.
Suddenly, Kelsey pipes up in a completely panic-stricken voice, "But, who can WE marry then??!!"
Daddy is obviously the only man in the entire world. Good to know.
Calmly, I reply, "Well, when you're bigger," mumble (at least 20) under my breath, "you need to find a nice boy who loves God and who loves you."
At this point, I'm thinking.. I'm so wise.. I'm the smartest mommy ever!
"Well," retorts little miss 4 year old smarty pants, "Daddy loves God and Daddy loves me. So, I'll marry daddy."

Well. I guess that settles that.

Who's Santa anyway?

So, the Christmas season has come and gone for another year. I hope you remembered to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We choose, in our house, not to teach the kids about Santa Claus or the like. However, at the beginning of December, we were driving down the road and the girls saw a giant blow up Santa. Kelsey looked out the window in amazement at this HUGE thing and said, "Mom! Look! A Clown!!" I smiled. At 4 years old to think Santa is just another clown is pretty accurate in my books!
However, as is bound to happen, by the end of Christmas, it was a slightly different story. Going into a shop yesterday, there was a Santa figurine. Kelsey saw it and said, "Mom, look there's the Christmas Man. Some people call him Sanda." Again, I smiled.

Cute Little things

So, the girls are constantly saying and doing things that are funny! And, frankly, I think others are sick and tired of me posting them on Facebook (which I do so I can remember them later). So, I'll post them here instead.

The other night, K & M and I were having dinner. When Kelsey says, "Mom, how does the baby come out when its born?"
"God made a special hole for the baby" I reply quickly.
Pondering this for a moment, she says, "Where?"
"Down by my bum" I reply, hoping she'll change the subject.
Of course, before I could even get the next forkful of food in, Morgan says, "Eww, not by your bum, that's STINKY!"
"Well, we give the baby a bath" I mumble back..
Thankfully that was enough to change the subject to bathing the baby and where that would happen and what happened to our old baby bath.

Turns out Kelsey thinks that Mitre 10 Mega is actually called: Mitre 10 LEGO   hahaha

Funny Things

Forgotten blog post - written April 14, 2010

I'm not sure if I've changed my attitude or if the girls are just going through a more "fun" stage - but I'm really enjoying them right now. They're funny. And.. one should remember funny things.. it helps you get through the rough times. So.. here's a few things that have happened and been said around this house lately.

Kelsey.
The other day Marco and I were sitting around chatting after he got home from work. Kelsey was sitting in the rocking chair, insessently asking to go to the park. "Mom.. I think we should go to the park." "Dad, can we go to the park today?" "Hmm.. I think it would be a good idea if I go to the swings today." (you get the idea). Marco and I were trying to talk about something else. Finally, I turned to Kelsey and said, "Please don't ask again, daddy and I will talk about it and let you know!" So, I turn back to Marco and as we're gathering our thoughts, Kelsey says - with her arms folded in front of her sitting on my rocking chair like a little madam - "I don't hear any woo-ords". We almost peed ourselves.

Kelsey is also jsut starting to use her imagination - although its funniest because its still "real" play - just imitating things that she's seen or have happened to her. So, yesterday, she was playing with her dolls. She lined them all up on the couch and first htey were crying, so she was breastfeeding them. Then they had to go to sleep.. but then.. then, they all started being "naughty". So, one by one she'd pick them up and tell them they were being naughty and needed a smack! Then she'd take them to her room and have a "chat" with them. "I told you no and you were naughty. You have a bad attitude so you need to sit here until I come back" Then she'd step out of the door and go back in and say, "now say sorry and give me a hug and a kiss". I was killing myself laughing. Maybe something is getting through to her!

Morgan.
Obviously, Morgan doesn't say cute things.. but she's still so funny. She's started this thing at the table where after I pray for the food, normally she's just supposed to say Amen. But she started to notice that we sometimes let Kelsey say her own prayer, and I guess she thought that looked pretty easy, becuase now, whenever I (or Marco) am finished praying she first looks at us, then puts her chin on her chest and mumbles to herself, then throws her arms in the air and yells "AMEN". So funny.

You know how when kids are learning how to walk they hold their hands up in the air - almost as if they're balancing themselves. Well, that's how Morgan walks - most of the time. The other day I caught her walking with her hands behind her back , strutting around the room like she owned the place and was overseeing everything. She has that air about her. We've also caught her walking around with her hands on her hips.. so cute!

Marco started teaching Morgan to say "Yes Dad/Mom" but since she doesn't say enough words, she just needs to nod.  So now whenever he is (or I am) telling her off, she's nodding her head like a little bobble head. makes it quite hard to keep a straight face!
